The I’s Have It: The Significance of Diagnosis Coding on the Minimum Data Set (MDS) – Presented by Alicia Cantinieri
January 25, 2024 at 1:00 pm - 2:00 pm EST
In the realm of long‐term care, the accuracy of the MDS plays a pivotal role in shaping resident care, reimbursement, and quality. With so many issues demanding attention, it is easy to think of the MDS as a task to complete amid the never‐ending list but not consider the story the data elements tell about your facility. Coding a diagnosis in MDS Section I has implications beyond a checkmark in a box; it is part of the data profile seen by stakeholders, including residents, consumers, state and federal agencies, and surveyors. This session will equip the nurse leader with the essential knowledge and strategies to navigate the complexities of coding diagnoses and best practices within the MDS framework.
