MDS 3.0 Training Update
MDS 3.0 is still on track for October 1, 2010 implementation. This is a major initiative that is understandably causing facilities anxiety.
While Zimmet Healthcare Services Group (“ZHSG”) has not yet scheduled programs, we are aware of several scheduled training programs hosted by private entities beginning in April. As a result, we have fielded hundreds of calls about our intentions on this matter.
Note that CMS announced this week during Surveyor Training for MDS 3.0 that the current manual should be considered “a draft document.” ZHSG will have two consultants at the CMS MDS 3.0 “Train the Trainers” conference in Baltimore next month. Edits and revisions to the manual will not be issued until after this event.
In light of this recent announcement by CMS, and the implementation date of October 1, 2010, we are advising clients to wait until June before attending/scheduling MDS 3.0 training programs.
We are currently finalizing our schedule for MDS 3.0 public training sessions in New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania . We are planning comprehensive programs beginning in June and running throughout the summer and fall.
A special program, “MDS 3.0 for the Management Team” will be featured during our Atlantic City conference on August 4 – 5, 2010.
ZHSG will also be offering the three day AANAC certification programs starting January 2011. We feel strongly that the timing of the training programs should be coordinated with start dates of MDS 3.0 implementation to insure successful understanding and implementation of this major initiative.
